During the 2025 wildfires, air quality in Los Angeles reached
hazardous ranges.

In February 2025, the CDC reported a
110-FOLD INCREASE
in air lead levels during the Los Angeles fires (Source).

Exposure to wildfire smoke is linked to an increased risk of
CARDIAC ARRESTS AND OTHER CARDIOVASCULAR EVENTS.

Early studies found that the Palisades and Eaton firefighters’ lead levels were
five times higher
in air lead levels during the Los Angeles fires.

The study also found that the Palisades and Eaton firefighters’ mercury levels were
three times higher
than the forest firefighters’ levels.

One study found that approx.
20% OF FIREFIGHTERS AND PARAMEDICS
meet the criteria for PTSD at some point in their careers (Source).
